A method is presented for separating the brightness of the 557.7-nm O I
emission from the intensity of the background radiation due to molecular
scattering. Vertical profiles of atomic-oxygen concentration at heights
of 80-100 km under daytime and twilight conditions are calculated on the
basis of experimental data on airglow at 557.7 nm.
