Methods of determining the physical characteristics of meteroids at the height of maximal deceleration for constant and variable cross section are presented. Parameters of the Sterlitamak meteorioid are calculated at initial velocities of 11, 15, and 19 km/s and a precipitated mass of 1.2 x 10 exp 3 kg. The most probable characteristics of the Sterlitamak phenomena are the following: initial mass of 5 x 10 exp 3 kg; initial radius of spherical body of 0.53 m; entry velocity of 15 km/s; height of maximal deceleration (height of the burst) of 10.5 km; velocity at the height of maximal deceleration of 9 km/s; maximal deceleration of 5 km/sq s; mass evaporated in the burst of not more than 100 kg; velocity at impact at the earth's surface of 1.2 km/s; and fireball magnitude at a height of 85 km of -5 m.
