Using the particle ejection from 3200 Phaeton as an illustration, a mathematical model of a short-period meteor stream is considered under the assumption that initial differences of these particles' semimajor axes are about 0.6 AU. It is shown that, under such conditions, the meteor stream, which was comparatively compact at the moment of outburst, scattered 20,000 years later under the effect of gravitational perturbations. Its present orbits cross the ecliptic plane, forming nearly closed curves which in turn cross the orbits of all the terrestrial planets. It is argued that only very faint meteor showers should be observed at each crossing of the meteor streams' orbit by the earth.
