An expression is obtained for estimating the effective radius of a comet
nucleus whose structure corresponds to a 'spotted' model. The
calculations use the integral magnitude obtained in observation and the
radius of the comet's head. The expression is used to show that the
radius of Comet Bradfield (1987s) is 4.3 + or - 0.3 km.
