A progress report is given about our experiment to measure the Newtonian gravitational constant. Two large movable field masses change the weight difference of two test masses. This change is precisely measured with a beam balance. A preliminary result with a relative uncertainty of 220 × 10-6 has been published. Currently we are working on improvements to reach a final uncertainty at the order of 10 × 10-6.
