The paper proposes a method for determining N2 and N2(+) concentrations
in the F2-region using simultaneous measurements of vertical profiles of
N I 5200 A and N2(+)(1NG) 4278 A emissions. The effectiveness of the
proposed method is demonstrated on AE-C satellite measurements.
