A report is given on the development and application of a technique of determining Mg isotopic ratios on spots of micrometre dimensions. Nuclear reactions are induced by a proton beam of a few MeV, focused down to 20 μm diameter. The resulting γ spectra of a sample and a standard of known isotopic composition are compared. To show the feasibility of application in meteoritical research, a few spot measurements were done on chondrules of the Allende meteorite.
