The work described shows that the measuring apparatus and the laboratory technique used are useful for the study of stoichiometric as well as cation-deficient titanomagnetites. The Curie temperatures and inversions of cation-deficient titanomagnetites to stable intergrowths are detected in samples of volcanic rocks on the basis of the variation of the magnetic susceptibility with temperature.
