The Vega Foton instrument was designed to detect relatively large dust particles, with masses exceeding 10 to the -9th g. The minimum mass of particles detected by Foton was 6 x 10 to the -10th g. Data are presented on time variations of particle fluxes impinging on the instrument screen; the mass distribution of the dust particles; and the distribution of particles emitted by the comet nucleus.
