We have recently obtained a Chandra observation of the HESS TeV gama-ray source coincident with the supernova remnant G12.82-0.02. The data reveal a point-like X-ray source surrounded by a bright nebula at the center of the remnant shell. The properties of this system leads to only one possible conclusion: a young (~< 4 kyr), highly energetic (>4E36 erg/s) pulsar powering a substantial wind nebula associated with the SNR. An XMM-Newton observation would have an excellent chance of detecting the expected pulsations to determine the energetics of the pulsar and resolve the origin of the observed TeV emission.
