The paper examines a method for evaluating the detail of a radar image in the case of a complex spatial distribution of Doppler frequencies of signals reflected from a surface. This type of distribution is associated with the formation of sidelooking SAR images of a planetary surface. It is shown that the image detail depends on the spatial distribution gradient of the proper motion velocity of the reflecting elements.
