TACTIC is a high-sensitivity gound-based very high energy (VHE)
telescope designed for undertaking comprehensive temporal and spectral
studies of galactic and extragalactic gamma-ray sources. Its main design
specifications, leading to a projected figure or merit of Q
approximately 26, are discussed.
