Gravitational Wave Detectors And Experiments, Vibration Isolation

We describe the method we have proposed to design a mechanical isolation system to a medium size resonant gravitational wave detector we plan to construct in Brazil. The proposed isolation structure was numerically described and analyzed using a network of solid finite elements. Our results show that the mechanism could allow a damping factor of about 250 dB at 2100 Hz, which is adequate to obtain the sensitivity level we want. .
