Scientific paper

An electromechanical actuator designed to move the secondary mirror of a Cassegrain telescope has been constructed for an experiment on board the NASA Orbiting Solar Observatory (OSO-I) for rastering the image of the sun at the focus. The main originality of this device is its internal servocontrol, which considerably increases its performance. The construction and computation of the various parts of the actuator are described in detail, and some results are presented.
