An all-particle primary nucleon spectrum and nuclei flux data are used to estimate the pion and kaon spectra in the atmosphere. Fermilab accelerator results in the framework of Feynman scaling are used to calculate meson production spectra in the atmosphere. The derived muon spectra from pi, K decays and prompt muons are found to be in accord with vertical magnetic spectrograph results and burst data. The sea-level muon spectra at polar angles of 75, 83, and 89 deg are calculated and compared with magnetic spectrograph data. The loss of muon energy in rocks owing to ionization, bremsstrahlung, and pair production are accounted for, and the derived depth-energy result for Mont Blanc tunnel is compared with those found for different authors. The range-energy relation for Kolar rocks is also estimated.
