The paper deals with a flare of importance, 2 B, which occurred in McMath 12322. Protons with energies between 100 and 500 MeV, recorded onboard the Prognoz 3 satellite were estimated to be retarded by approximately 40 min. In the present paper, the retardation is attributed either to containment of the accelerated particles in the solar corona, or to containment in a magnetic trap formed by magnetohydrodynamic shock waves originating from preceding flares.
