It is shown that the infinite-dimensional gauge superalgebras of all the versions of superspace N = 1 supergravity (conformal as well as minimal and nonminimal Einstein ones) can be obtained as closures of a certain pair of finite-dimensional subsuperalgebras (sometimes more than one pair is possible). The structure relations of these defining superalgebras are given explicitly.
