The special features characterising the determination and control of deep-space trajectories are examined in the context of the planned Giotto and International Solar-Polar Mission (ISPM). Trajectory determination and design of orbit-correction maneuvers are discussed, with emphasis on error analysis. Modelling errors for the Giotto cruise phase are shown. The accuracy of trajectory correction, arrival geometries, and injection and trajectory corrections are also discussed. Trajectory-controlling target definitions for Giotto, ISPM, and the Kepler mission are stated, and Giotto maneuvers to correct trajectories are described.
