The behavior of daytime auroras during magnetospheric substorms was studied on the basis of data from observatories on Spitsbergen and Franz-Joseph Land. It is shown that, prior to the commencement of the substorm development phase, a pronounced drop in the intensity of auroras with a duration of 3-8 min is observed. This intensity decrease is most pronounced in the 557.7 nm emission.
