We present 24 μm photometry obtained with the Multiband Imaging Photometer for Spitzer Space Telescope of a sample of late B and early A dwarfs in moderate-aged clusters, in the range 25-75 Myr. Preliminary results show a handful of stars in the clusters IC 2602, IC 4665, and NGC 3766 have large K-[24] excesses (1.0 ≤ K-[24] ≤ 2.5). These excesses may indicate the presence of unresolved dusty circumstellar disks formed from collisions between planetesimals and from cometary activity. Future work includes investigation of serendipitous sources in the target fields, and photometry of the longer wavelength 70 and 160 μm MIPS bandpasses. Our long-term goal includes investigating the relative frequency of debris-disk candidates as a function of stellar age to constrain formation timescales.
This work is based on observations made with the Spitzer Space Telescope, which is operated by JPL/Caltech under a contract with NASA. Support for this work was provided by NASA through Contract Number 1264113 from JPL/Caltech.
