Equatorial ionospheric scintillations and spread F in the early hours after sunrise are reported. The irregularities, which were observed at 40, 140, and 360 MHz, seem to be distinct from those occurring during the night, and are apparently associated with a geomagnetic storm. Ionograms and amplitude recordings for the phenomena are given; Faraday rotation angles recorded at the same time as the amplitude readings permit calculation of total electron contents (TECs) at five-minute intervals.
