The search for the topology of the universe made tremendous progress in the past years1,2 and nowadays, methods using two-dimensional data sets (such as the cosmic microwave background) and three-dimensional data sets (such as catalogs of clusters or quasars) have been developped. The former will in principle be applied to the maps to be obtained by the MAP and Planck satellite missions.
