Some special solutions to the Einstein-Maxwell equations are examined which correspond to source-free steady-state cylindrically symmetric electromagnetic fields. It is found that the steady-state solutions can be reduced to known solutions corresponding to static electrovac fields if the metric elements gtt, gphi phi, and gphi t are linearly related.
