The discovery of cyclopropenylidene in interstellar space raises the possibility of finding larger ring systems also. In order to assist in spectroscopic investigations, high-level ab initio quantum mechanical studies are reported for the geometry, dipole moment and vibrational frequencies of the ground state of cyclopentadienylidene, and the geometries and relative energies of the first two excited electronic states.
