The origin of high-energy emission from young stellar objects (YSOs) remains uncertain. Our Chandra and XMM observations of V1647 Ori, obtained before and shortly after this YSO underwent a spectacular optical/IR outburst in 2003/04, resulted in strong evidence that X-ray emission from young stars can occur as a consequence of star-disk interactions. We propose to continue our monitoring campaign of V1647 Ori, in order to determine the long- and short-term behavior of accretion-enhanced X-ray emission from this seminal, erupting YSO. This opportunity to ascertain the changes in star-disk interactions associated with a protostellar accretion burst is unlikely to be repeated during Chandra's lifetime.
