A computer simulation is conducted for the concept of curvature sensing/compensation in adaptive optics. The use of an entirely analog closed-loop adaptive optics system is found to be feasible for the case of a curvature sensor and a membrane mirror. In order to perform satisfactorily, each membrane electrode is found to require the reception of a linear combination of signals from its associated detector and its neighbors. It is established that aberrations exhibiting circular symmetry are more easily corrected than asymmetric aberrations.
