This paper describes the current and planned efforts in the space debris field in Japan, placing emphasis on the activities of the Japan Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences (JSASS) and National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA). It covers activities for space debris environment measurement, mitigation and protection and shielding. Some representative activities of individual researchers are also briefly introduced.
