Plasma irregularities in the ionosphere can adversely affect communications, navigation, and satellite tracking and positioning. To learn more about such irregularities, the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) unveiled plans on 1 September for its first CubeSat mission, called CubeSat-based Ground-to-Space Bistatic Radar Experiment-Radio Aurora Explorer (RAX).
