The presently reported absorption cross-sections of CS2 at wavelengths in the 187-230 nm range, and 300 K, show upon comparison with previous CS2 cross-section determinations (and with the absorption spectrum of SO2) that the connection between bandwidth and apparent absorption cross-section for highly structured spectra must be borne in mind, when using these results. These cross-sections can be used to identify and quantify CS2 concentrations in planetary atmospheres, as well as in distinguishing between CS2 and SO2.
