The cross sections of Li and Be isotopes produced in a carbon target irradiated by 300 GeV protons were measured by mass spectrometry. These were compared with previously published results on Li and Be isotope cross sections produced by bombardment of a carbon target by 25 GeV protons. Subject to some uncertainty regarding lack of an absolute cross section monitor, it seems unlikely that variations in nuclear production cross sections can explain the observed variation in the cosmic ray Li Be B/CNO ratio at energies above 10 GeV.
