Measurements of the electron-capture cross sections for H(+) impact on H and H2, and the electron-loss cross sections for H(-) impact on H and H2, have been obtained for projectile energies in the 2.0-0.063 keV range. A standard value of 6.95 x 10 to the -16th sq cm is adopted for the electron-capture cross section for H(+) + H2 collisions at 2.0-keV H(+) energy. The reaction product H atoms are measured using a secondary-electron-emission detector, and a description of the present crossed-beam technique is given. Good agreement is found between the findings and previous experimental and theoretical results.
