Equilibrium aspects of the structure and thermodynamics of the interfacial region separating two coexisting phases near criticality are reviewed. Brief surveys of pertinent rigorous and exact results and experiments are included. Phenomenological approaches and renormalization group results, along with implications on such topics as universality and interface stability, are discussed. Related topics such as roughening and wetting are also briefly discussed.
