A detailed morphological and kinematical study of the close pair of galaxies UGC 9922 is presented. The larger galaxy, which resembles a perturbed bar with three knots, shows peculiar internal motions. The ionized gas is in differential rotation, with a maximum velocity of about 120 km/s, and a very low gradient near the center, possibly due to streaming motions. The stars follow the gas in the innermost regions, rotate in the opposite sense between 0.7 and 2.2 kpc, and rotate in the same sense as the gas, but much faster (maximum rotation velocity: 180 km/s) in the outer regions. UGC 9922 bears some resemblance to Mrk 306 and Arp 81, as all three have a bar, a small companion, a strong far-infrared luminosity, and a larger velocity width in neutral than in ionized gaseous motion.
