The conditions in the very early Universe following the Planck time at 10 to the minus 43rd power sec after Big Bang up to the recombination phase at 100,000 yr are described in the light of modern theories of elementary particle physics. Problems arising in the pure Big Bang theory may be solved, if an inflationary phase occurred just after the Grand Unification epoch at 10 to the minus 34th power sec. The observed Universe shows large structures of galaxy clusters, superclusters and voids of the order of 50 to 100 Mpc in dimensions, and views of how these structures were created are considered. The question of the dark matter and whether the Universe is closed or not is discussed.
