Two coronagraphs were prepared at the Pic-du-Midi observatory (France) for a ground based support for the SOHO (Solar and Heliospheric Observatory) mission. The Multichannel Spectro Coronagraph (MSCO) produces maps of the intensities of emission lines in the corona or prominences and reflex images of the same observed region with a restricted field in the light defined by interference filters and optics channels. This instrument may be used during the SOHO mission principally as a support for programs concerning the coronal cavities. The Hα Coronagraph (HACO) performs a survey of the cool material evolutions all around the solar limb up to one solar radius. This instrument was at first developed as a support for the SOHO mission principally for the study of coronal events and large scale material transport.
