Amorphous MgSO4-2H2O was made by vacuum dehydration of
epsomite/hexahydrite. Kieserite and starkeyite were unaffected under the
same conditions. Kieserite shows the best match to OMEGA NIR spectra
obtained from dark etched terrain at Meridiani Planum.
