In the reentry control discussed, the angle of roll is the controlling parameter. Methods are proposed for obtaining nominal control programs and also control laws in which the coefficients are optimal with respect to the accuracy criterion. The algorithm described is particularly well suited for reentry control systems designed for weight and volume constraints.
