During the past five years, Appalachian State University, the Vatican Observatory and the David Dunlap Observatory have been engaged in a Nearby Stars (NStars) project to obtain spectra of all dwarf and giant stars earlier than M0 within 40 parsecs of the Sun (3600 stars). We are using these spectra to provide new, precise spectral types and basic physical parameters (T eff, log g and [M/H]). In addition, we are providing measures of the chromospheric activity of these stars. This poster will present an analysis of two-thirds of the entire NStars sample and will provide results on exoplanet stars, chromospherically active stars, and other stars in the sample of astrophysical interest. This project was supported in part by a contract from NASA/JPL.
