We describe a program to reduce systematic uncertainties in cosmological measurements using type Ia supernovae (SNe) at z>1. By studying the progenitor environments for cluster-hosted SNe, we can decouple intrinsic color from dust and also establish progenitor age and metallicity as an indicator of population evolution.
