Using 4924 hours of ground-based pulsation data, a study is made of the correlation between the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) and geomagnetic pulsations. It is found that: (1) Pc 2-4 types follow the law 160/B, where B is the magnitude of the IMF, (2) when the IMF vector has a 30-degree angle with the sun-earth direction, amplitudes for Pc 3 are at a maximum, (3) when the IMF vector is perpendicular to the sun-earth direction, Pc 3-4 types are at a minimum, (4) longer period pulsations, such as Pc 5, are influenced by the IMF, and (5) pulsation amplitudes are generally a function of solar wind velocity or geomagnetic activity.
