This paper suggests that the term 'injection energy' may have a restricted application only to electrons when used in reference to particle acceleration in solar flares. The Fermi acceleration mechanism is examined, and an attempt is made to show that 'injection energy' is not a 'sufficient characteristic' of a Coulomb barrier for heavy particles.
