In order to understand our own origins we need to understand how the elements which make up our planet and our own bodies are created and distributed throughout the Galaxy. This necessitate the development of more accurate models of the supernova driven galactic outflows which so greatly influence the physical and chemical evolution of their host galaxies.
In the last year we have been using our departments 16 processor linux cluster and the titan linux supercomputer cluster at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications to run 3D simulations of starburst galaxies using a parallel version of the hydrodynamics code VH-1. These and future simulation will serve as input to tools developed by David Strickland at Johns Hopkins University to generate artificial X-ray/OVI/H-alpha images.
The latest results will be presented.
