Computer simulations have been used in the analysis of close encounters
between hard binaries and single stars. Emphasis is placed on the
experimental study of the physics of these encounters. The cross
sections of energy transfer between hard binaries and field stars is
computed using the results of the simulations at zero impact parameter.
