A variety of aplanatic and anastigmatic Schmidt Cassegrain and Schmidt
Gregorian telescope designs with nonzero Petzval curvatures are
investigated. Relaxing the Petzval constraint permits the development of
high performance photo/visual instruments which are capable of
diffraction limited imaging over fields of view of 1-2 deg.
