The Prognoz-8 wave experiment involved the measurement of fluctuations of electric and magnetic fields and plasma streams in the 0.1-125 Hz frequency range in the magnetosphere. This paper describes the tasks of the experiment, the methodology used, and the instrumentation. First results are presented which show that the maximum values of the spectral intensity of electric field and plasma stream in the bow wave are in the range of units of Hz.
