An analysis is made of the instability of an ellipsoidal stellar system
with respect to oscillations that produce triaxiality or lead to
separation of the ring. It is shown that the separation of the ring from
the spheroid occurs at an eccentricity of e(R) = 0.993 (c/a = 0.12),
while triaxiality occurs at e(T) = 0.866 (c/a = 0.5).
