It has been demonstrated for several years that the dayside cusp/cleft region acts as a significant source of ionospheric ions for the Earth's magnetosphere. Previous observations in the dayside cusp/cleft showed that ions are heated perpendicularly to the geomagnetic field, and overcome gravity due to the mirror force forming outflows. In our study, observations on the FAST satellite at altitudes from 1000-4000 km provide direct crossings of the heating region, and enable to locally analyze ion heating processes associated to various wave-mechanisms (e. g., broadband low-frequency, lower hybrid waves). On the other hand, due to the mirror force, the heated ions are detected at higher altitudes (20000 km) by the Interball-2 satellite. These outflows are characterized by a regular energy dispersion due to the magnetospheric convection. Therefore, the ion measurements at high altitudes contain information about the heating processes occurring at lower altitudes. In the following, we present a preliminary Monte-Carlo model where the observed wave-mechanisms are used to explain the observed ion distributions at higher altitudes. The influence of the different wave-mechanisms to the ion energization is discussed.
