Numerical models for the equatorial electrojet are compared with experimental data; the models employing high electron collision frequency values are found to be most accurate. An electron collision frequency adjustment to the numerical model developed by Richmond (1972) results in an adequate fit to observed parameters. However, the physical justification for this correction is subject to some doubt.
