Four possible damping mechanisms of Pi2 pulsations are discussed, and damping decrements are calculated for each mechanism. It is found that in the ascending order of their importance the mechanisms are as follows: ohmic losses in the ionosphere and in the region of longitudinal electric resistance, irregularity of resonant frequencies, and the pressure gradient of the magnetospheric plasma.
