Calculations of the concentrations of O(+) ions in the 4S, 2D, and 2P states, the horizontal wind-velocity components, and the N2 vibrational temperature in the F-region and the topside ionosphere are calculated for the conditions of the complex rocket experiment carried out in Australia in 1969 at solar maximum. It is found that, if recombination of O(+)(4S) with vibrationally excited N2 is not taken into account, the measured and calculated electron densities diverge by a factor of 2.
